FAQ

  • Brasilia™ is made of stainless steel, weren't the originals made of brass?

Actually, they were made out of “pot metal”, mostly tin, but also containing zinc, copper, and lead. I have sawn through a few originals and confirmed my suspicions with a spectrometer. After the originals were formed, they were plated with an extremely thin layer of copper, commonly known as “flash copper” to get a reflection underneath. Finally, they were coated with quite a few coats of toned lacquer, the same lacquer that we use today.

  • Will these fit my old Brasilia™ furniture?

They will fit exactly. Screws are provided in the right thread and length in case you are missing them. A drilling template is also provided in the box.

  • Can I use these with Ikea cabinets?

Sure, screws and a drilling guide are provided with your purchase. Note, the depth of the cabinet face can vary - in that case, you made need longer or shorter #8-32 screws you can pick up at your local hardware store.
